Mustangs stymie USCAA D1, Bryant & Stratton Albany

Auburn, ME - Playing arguably the toughest team on their regular season schedule, the Mustangs locked down on the defensive end, grinding out a 59-47 victory. After defeating the Bryant & Stratton in December by only three, the Mustangs knew they would have to contain the explosive, and revamped Bobcats.

CM rose to the occasion, switching up defenses, and keeping the Bobcats from finding any rhythm. The Mustangs held the Bobcats to their second lowest scoring total of the year, while forcing 24 turnovers, and winning the battle on the boards by +12.

Emily Strachan (Lewiston, ME) scored a team-high 15 points while also pulling down 6 rebounds. Her backcourt partner-in-crime, Safena Te Nana-Williams (Auckland, NZ) finished with 12 points, 4 steals, and 3 assists. After battling foul trouble in the first half, Kali Thompson (Waterville, ME) scored 9 second half points to finish with 11 overall. Jade Smedberg (Oxford, ME) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Saige Roberts once again led the Bobcats, this time with 16 points, 13 of which came in the second half.

With the win the Mustangs improve to 15-2 on the season, and will be back in action on Sunday, at 1:00pm, to take on the CCRI Knights. CCRI handed the Mustangs one of their two first semester losses.
