SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team completed the season sweep of the rival Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC), getting it done 81-73 at The HUB on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Prior to the game, Head Coach Matt Richards celebrated his three graduating players for their achievements and commitments to the program—Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.), Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine), and Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine).

The SeaWolves clamored ahead by as much as 12 points with 3:36 remaining in the first, but a late Mustang run left SMCC ahead by just three at the break. The home team opened it up by 10 again inside the first four minutes of the second half and continued to maintain distance, not to allow magic by the CMCC side.

All five SMCC starters landed in double figures led by Regan's 18 and Mickle's 17. Cousins recorded 12 points and eight rebounds, junior captain DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine) added 11 points and four assists, and first-year guard Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine) chipped in 11 points and two steals.

CMCC's Corey David led his team with 19 points on 6-13 shooting.

The result pushes SMCC to 15-5 overall, 12-1 YSCC. CMCC dips to 10-11 on the year and 5-7 in league play.

The SeaWolves will round out the regular season and play for the YSCC #1 seed with a trip to Vermont Technical College on Saturday, Feb. 12. Tip-off in Randolph, Vt. is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
