Men’s Soccer Suffers Loss To ACPHS, Draws Bryant & Stratton In NY Slate

ALBANY, N.Y./SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team split in its weekend trip to New York, suffering a 1-0 loss to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) before drawing with Bryant and Stratton College- Albany 2-2.

SMCC started its weekend slate with a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) meet up with ACPHS on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The SeaWolves fell down 1-0 at the 20:37 mark, conceding on a penalty kick taken by Albany's Sahill Arora. Despite outshooting the opposition 8-5 and earning four more corner kicks in the second half, SMCC was unable to find the equalizer before time expired.

The result leaves SMCC 2-1 in conference action.

SMCC took on the USCAA Div. 1 Bobcats from Bryant and Stratton College- Albany at Union College on Sunday, Sept. 26.

The Bobcats struck first at 7:35 off the foot of Junior Gomez Depina before SMCC's Laszlo Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) knotted the score at 1-1. First-year Eriksen Shea (Freeport, Maine) logged his fourth goal of the season before the other side made it even at 2-2.

First-year Joshua Nagle (Biddeford, Maine) totaled four saves in the contest.

SMCC sits 3-5-1 overall.

The action continues when the SeaWolves host the Wolverines from Bridgton Academy in a non-conference match Thursday, Sept. 30. Kickoff from Wainwright Recreation Complex is set for 4 p.m.
