SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split in its doubleheader with non-conference opponent Quincy College on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Game 1: L, 10-8 [BOX]

First-year Tyler Apodaca (Kittery Point, Maine) earned the start for the SeaWolves throwing four innings of two-hit, two-run baseball, striking out seven.

Both first-years Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) and Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) logged multi-hit games and combined for three runs scored.

SMCC out-hit the opposition seven to four but recorded seven errors—the result of just one earned run by SeaWolves' pitchers. Quincy posted seven runs in the top half of the sixth that proved to be the difference maker in the contest.

Game 2: W, 11-0 (5 innings) [BOX]

Rookie Joseph Townsend (Scarborough, Maine) went the distance on the hill for SMCC, hurling a two-hit shutout—striking out six and walking none.

First-year Sam Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine) had himself an afternoon going 3-4 from the dish with four RBI. The SeaWolves offense piled on five runs in the third, two in the fourth, and four in the fifth to hand Head Coach Nic Lops his first career win at the College.

The SeaWolves return to the diamond when they travel to Central Maine Community College to do battle in a 9-inning affair on Monday, Sept. 13. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
