SeaWolves Baseball Splits In NCAA Exhibition With Farmington

FARMINGTON, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Baseball team split in an exhibition doubleheader with NCAA Div. 3-opponent University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Game 1: W, 9-6 | BOX

SMCC used four arms to limit the UMF offense to five hits and five walks—first-year Tyler Apodaca (Kittery Point, Maine) earned the win.

The SeaWolves got the bats going early with four runs in the first and one in the second. They punished UMF pitching for another four runs in the sixth inning to pad a comfortable lead.

First-years Matthew Tufts (Wells, Maine) and Sam Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine) combined for six RBI—Tufts a three-run homerun.

Game 2: L, 14-5 | BOX

This time it was Farmington who sparked immediate offense, crossing two in the first inning and four in the second. SMCC kept pace posting three runs inside three innings, but UMF found separation with six in the bottom half of the third.

First-years Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) and Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) both tallied multi-hit games—Cousins two runs in two plate appearances.

First-year Liam Jann (Philadelphia, Pa.) was taxed the loss.

The SeaWolves return to the diamond on Tuesday, Oct. 5 when they host Central Maine Community College in a 9-inning affair beginning at 3 p.m.
