Mustangs, Farley-David Pour it on in the Second Half

Auburn, ME – A regroup at halftime eliminated a 12-point deficit as the Mustangs captured a come from behind 71-62 over Great Bay Wednesday night.

Emotions were running high at cozy Kirk Hall for the home team.  Only the second game of the young semester and coming off a 10-day minicamp, the home team were fired up from the start.  In fact, probably to fired up.  A number of miscues and turnovers cost the Mustangs early as the Herons went on a 12-2 run in the last five minutes of the period to take a 35-27 halftime lead.

An inspirational halftime speech by veteran Malik Farley seemed to get the Mustangs back focused.   CM came out in the second half and quickly tied the game 41-41.  A few big shots by Corey David and a solid second half by Justin Dugan put the Mustangs up by four.  CM maintained a small lead most of the second half and went into the last two minutes up 66-62.  A defensive stand by DeMarco Mckissic forced a turnover and David delivered a full court bullet to a streaking Farley to put the squad up by six points with just under two minutes remaining.  Free throws at the games' and by Corey David sealed the win.

Farley led the Mustangs with 17 points and 11 rebounds. David added 16 points with 7 rebounds and added 4 assists.

CM hosts Bryan Stratton Albany Friday night at 5pm in USCAA action and the Community College of Rhode Island comes to town Saturday for a 2pm tip off.
