WARWICK, R.I.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split in non-conference action against the Knights of the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) on Sunday, April 10.

Game 1: W, 5-0 [BOX]

First-year pitcher Liam Jann (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned his second start of the season and threw a 4-hit complete game shutout, logging six strikeouts. Jann was backed by run support in the fourth and sixth innings featuring a 3-run jack by first-year Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) and a RBI-single by first-year Joseph Townsend (Scarborough, Maine).

Rookie Emerson Tucholski (Westlake, Ohio) had the other notable performance delivering two hits in four trips to the plate—and scored a run.

Game 2: L, 8-1 [BOX]

The Knights started early connecting on two extra-base hits to post two runs in the first frame. A homer in the third and more runs in the fifth and sixth innings had the home team ahead by eight before first-year Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) provided the only score for the SeaWolves on a RBI-groundout in the seventh.

SMCC used three pitchers started by first-year Kalin Marum (Port Kembla, Australia) who suffered the loss. CCRI's Caleb Harris tossed a complete game to notch the victory.

SMCC won the four-game season series 3-1 and improves to 15-7 overall. The result pushes CCRI to 4-6 on the year.

The road slate continues when the SeaWolves travel to Bridgton Academy to open a two-game spring series with the Wolverines. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
