SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team suffered losses in both games of a non-conference doubleheader against the Warriors from Massasoit Community College on Monday, April 18.

Game 1: L, 2-1 [BOX]

First-year Tyler Apodaca (Kittery Point, Maine) made his sixth start of the season and limited the opposition to just two earned runs over six innings. Countered by a combined effort from the Warrior staff, Apodaca was taxed the loss in an otherwise effective outing.

The Warriors posted a run in the second inning by way of a sacrifice fly off the bat of Eric McCallum. First-year captain Andrew Martin (Dracut, Mass.) produced an infield single to drive in first-year Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) to even the score in the fifth. McCallum delivered another sacrifice fly in the sixth inning that proved the game winner.

Game 2: L, 12-7 [BOX]

Again Massasoit jumped ahead, this time getting up 10-0 before the SeaWolves came clamoring back with six runs of their own in the bottom half of the fourth. First-year Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) scored in the fifth inning to close the deficit to three runs, but SMCC pitching surrendered a pair in the final inning to spoil a comeback effort.

First-year Anthony Sayers (Benoni, South Africa) collected two of the four SMCC hits and added three RBI. Starter Jack Falvo (East Hartford, Conn.) was issued the loss; Massasoit's Justin MacKay was credited the victory.

The SeaWolves slip to 17-11 overall; the Warriors stand 7-13 on the year.

The baseball game scheduled for Tuesday, April 19 at Great Bay Community College has been postponed. The SeaWolves will continue action on Saturday, April 23 when they host conference-opponent Great Bay Community College for a pair beginning at 12:00 p.m.
