FARMINGTON, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team suffered an overtime loss 91-97 to the Beavers of the University of Maine at Farmington (NCAA Div. 3) on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

The SeaWolves won the first half by a five-point margin backed by three 3-pointers from junior captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine). The Beavers got even in the second half to lead 85-84 with 15 seconds left in regulation; and it was SMCC captain Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) who made the game-tying free throw to force overtime.

The Beavers put together a 7-2 run to begin the five-minute period and went on to finish the job 97-91.

Regan totaled 20 points and seven assists and sophomore captain Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) logged a team-high 22 points on 8-13 shooting. Farmington's Jake Kane recorded a dominant 32 points and 18 boards and Terion Moss added 25 points.

Associate Head Coach AJ Burton expressed, "Going into this one, we knew that we had a big challenge ahead of us. Even though the outcome didn't go in our favor, the guys executed the game plan and played with incredible effort. We asked them to leave it all out there and that's what they did. Could not be more proud of this group pushing Farmington to their limits- and we intend to learn from the miscues ahead of a challenging conference slate."

SMCC stands 4-1 overall.

The SeaWolves get back to conference action in a meeting with the Moose of the University of Maine at Augusta on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Tip-off at the Augusta Civic Center is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
