CONCORD, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team bounced back with two wins against Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) foe NHTI on Saturday, April 16.

Game 1: W, 13-2 [BOX]

First-year pitcher Kalin Marum (Port Kembla, Australia) gave five strong innings to a tune of two runs over four hits and seven strikeouts. Rookie righty Emerson Tucholski (Westlake, Ohio) made a scoreless relief appearance.

The SMCC bats came alive for 10 hits and posted runs in four separate innings. First-year shortstop Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico) connected for his third homerun of the season and first-year Joseph Townsend (Scarborough, Maine) collected three hits and three RBI from the four-hole.

The mercy rule ended this one in six innings assigning Marum with the win and NHTI's Conner Lee the loss.

Game 2: W, 12-3 [BOX]

Townsend started on the bump in the second game and contributed five innings and surrendered three runs on just two hits. Tyler Apodaca (Kittery Point, Maine) and Anthony Sayers (Benoni, South Africa) each provided clean innings of relief.

Colon and first-years Derek Hoh (Methuen, Mass.) and Gabriel Rivera (Caguas, Puerto Rico) combined for seven hits and nine RBIs to lead the SeaWolves to victory.

NHTI's Nolan Kilmanis was taxed the loss.

Following the game, Head Coach Nic Lops commented, "Today was a nice way to bounce back and break a three-game skid. The offense found its rhythm after a quiet week and our pitching gave us a tremendous effort backed by sound defense. We hope to continue the approach as we move ahead in conference scheduling."

The sweep pushes SMCC to 17-9 overall, 2-1 YSCC. NHTI stands 5-12 on the year, 3-4 in league action.

Next, the SeaWolves play host to the Warriors from Massasoit Community College in non-conference doubleheader action on Monday, April 18. Game times are scheduled for 1:00/3:00 p.m.
