Lee Academy Outplays Mustangs

Auburn, ME – For the first time this year, the Mustangs were out-rebounded and taken advantage of inside as the Panda's from Lee Academy came into Kirk Hall and handled the Mustangs by a 79-67 score.  Despite the height advantage, this being an exhibition contest, the home team didn't quit.  Big Demarco Mckissic played one of his best games of the season taking down 10 rebounds and hitting for 13 points.  He had to defend two seven footers all night and held his own.

The Panda's jumped out front 24-14 early but CM hung on until the middle of the first half.  At the eight-minute mark, six consecutive missed shots by the Mustangs allowed the visitors to take a 20-point halftime advantage.

After regrouping at halftime, CM fought back behind Corey David's six three pointers (21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists) and Josh Chery (15 points and 6 rebounds) to chip into the lead.  As the Mustangs battled, the lead began to shrink.  With seven minutes left in the contest, the Mustangs managed to cut the lead to seven points.  However, a Brian Belade corner three halted the Mustang surge.  Belade finished with 25 points and 7 rebounds.

The supporting cast behind David and Chery were Malik Farley 8 points and 7 rebounds.

The Mustangs host NJCAA member Roxbury Community College Saturday at 2pm.
