Randolph Center, VT - The Vermont Tech women's soccer team fell to NVU Johnson 2-1 on Tuesday in a hard fought game. While the shot count wass nearly 2-1 in favor of the Badgers, the Knights never gave up, continuing to get shots off until the 83rd minute. In the first half, the play and shots were back and forth between the teams, with neither team gaining the advantage. The Badgers shot more, 11-7, but the Knights had more good opportunites on a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks, though the score remained 0-0 at the half. The Badgers took advantage of a team that didn't look prepared, scoring a goal in first minute of the second half. The Knights, however, answered right back in the 47th minute with a goal by freshman Amy Yando, who dribble through three defenders and placed the ball perfectly into the back of the net. The game continued to go back and forth the rest of the second half, though the Badgers outshot the Knights 19-5 in the second half. The Badgers got the upper hand on a weak shot iin the 88th minute. Knights keeper Ebony Cota came out to block the shot and was beat easily by Dulci Nino after miscalculating the angle, to give the Badgers the win.
The Knights open their conference season this weekend vs Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
