Mustangs Sweep Seawolves

For the first time since 2009, the CM Mustangs swept the SMCC Seawolves in a doubleheader in Auburn Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs took game one, 1-0, and game two, 9-2.

In game one, Garret Harvey had a gutsy performance on the mound, going the distance, giving up no runs on five hits, and striking out five.

The lone Mustangs run came on an RBI single by Brady Vincent that plated Lee Robertson. Brandon Gour was the only repeat hitter for the Mustangs with two singles.

In game two, the Mustangs continued to get great pitching as Trevor Phelps went the distance, giving up two runs on four hits, and striking out four.

The Mustangs' offense pounded out 11 hits, highlighted by a three-run home run by Gage Hubbard in the bottom of the sixth. Brady Vincent had two hits and three RBI, and Brandon Gour had another two hits and an RBI. Lee Robertson added a hit and an RBI.

"Anytime you beat a good, well-coached team, it's a great day," said head coach Ryan Palmer. "We got all facets of the game today," he added. "Phenomenal pitching, timely hitting, and great defense got the job done."

The Mustangs are back in action on Friday as they travel to Massachusetts to take on Quincy College in a YSCC doubleheader beginning at 4:00 pm.
