The Vermont Tech men's soccer team fell to 3-0 in a non-conference game and one conferece game this week. The Knights played at NVU Johnson on Tuesday in a close and competitive game.
The Knights had many scoring opportunites, though they only had 2 shots on goal. The Badger's defense did well to clear out most of the scoring opportunites before the Knights could get off a shot. Despite the close matchup, and a 0-0 score through most of the game, Johnson had the edvantage with 10 shots. They were able to cut through the Knights defense to score in the 64th minute, and again in the 67th minute. The Knights lost a bit of steam towards the end, letting in one more goal in the 78th minute. Goaltender Thomas Ferguson had 3 saves, while the Knights two forwards, Zach Johnson and Rupesh Gurung, each got off a shot on goal towards the end of the match.
The Knights moved on to their first conference match of the season, playing Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday. In this game, the Knights had one lone shot on goal to start of the second half by Freshman Kobe Pierson, and spent much of the rest of the game defending. Knights goalkeeper Thomas Ferguson again came through with 11 saves off 15 shots on goal, showing that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the league.
The Knights have a stretch of three conference games in the next two weeks, starting with Southern Maine Community College on the 18th.
