Mustangs secure win against UMA

Auburn, ME - Wednesday night featured an important conference match-up as CM took on UMA with the Mustangs looking to revenge an earlier season loss to the Moose. The Mustangs would need their big three to play well and luckily for them they did just that! Malik Farley led CM in scoring with 20 points and 9 rebounds. DeMarco McKissic had a big night underneath just missing a triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 blocks. Corey David chipped in with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists of his own.

In a game that involved two very high energy teams, the Mustangs were able to combine key defensive stops and big runs offensively to keep the Moose at bay. DeMarco McKissic scored 12 of 19 points along with 6 of his 7 blocks in the first half. This dominance in the post helped the Mustangs to a 34-24 lead at the break. In the second half, the Moose would come out strong and cut the lead down to as little as 5. However, that is as close as they would get as they would fall to the Mustangs 70-77. CM dominated the paint scoring 48 of their 77 points in there in comparison to the 28 points scored in the paint for UMA. That statistic along with a ten rebound advantage favoring the Mustangs, helped secure the win. The Moose finished with five players in double figures, but only led for the first 5 minutes of the game when the score was 9-7. Eric Crawford led the team with 15 points followed by Willie Foreman and Israel Brown chipping in 13 a piece. UMA drops to 5-16 on the season and 3-6 in the conference.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 10-8 on the season and 5-4 in the conference. They are back on the road this weekend as they travel to NHTI and Vermont Tech.
