BB: Seawolves take down Mustangs 8-3

AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team took down Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 8-3 in a 9-inning road contest on Monday, Sept. 13.

First-year Jack Falvo (East Hartford, Conn.) made his second start of the season to go five innings to a tune of three runs on three hits and four strikeouts. Emerson Tucholski (Westlake, Ohio) and Anthony Sayers (Benoni, South Africa) combined for a scoreless relief effort.

First-years Justin Colon (Aguada, Puerto Rico), Joseph Townsend (Scarborough, Maine), and Gabriel Rivera (Caguas, Puerto Rico) each put together multi-hit games—Colon with three RBI.

The SeaWolves offense pushed one across in the first frame and built a 7-0 lead by the top half of the fifth. CMCC responded with three in the bottom of the fifth before SMCC tacked on an insurance run in the seventh.

The SeaWolves climb to 2-2 on the season; CMCC stands 3-2 overall.

SMCC returns to the diamond on Sunday, Sept. 19 at Holman Stadium (Nashua, N.H.) to take on NCAA Div. III Rivier University and Northern Essex Community College in a round-robin play date. Game times are 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
