SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NHTI) -- The NHTI Men's Basketball secured their fourth-straight Yankee Small College Conference Championship Game with a 94-86 victory over rival Central Maine CC.
The Lynx were led by a balanced attack as six players registered double-figures in points. Sean Riley (Washington, DC) led the team in scoring with 17 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3-FG) while also having seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. Nassir Coleman (Philadelphia, PA) contributed a double-double with 13 points (6-6 FG, 1-3 FT), 13 rebounds as well as dishing seven assists and blocking a pair of shots. J'Quavious Thurmond (Monticello, GA) added 15 points (6-9 FG, 0-1 3-FG, 3-5 FT), nine rebounds, and six assists. Dante Cingire (Fairfield, IA) scored 15 points (5-10 FG, 5-10 3-FG), Shaquille Barrett (Houston, TX) tallied 15 points (4-5 FG, 3-4 3-FG, 4-4 FT) and Sean Menard (Chichester, NH) added 12 points (4-8 FG, 4-8 3-FG) to round out the double-figure scorers.
YSCC Men's Coach of the Year Paul Hogan and his NHTI men will now play in the YSCC Championship tomorrow at 4:30pm against the Vermont Tech Knights. Along with the victory, the Lynx clinched a trip to the USCAA Nationals next week.
