MSOC: Bobcats take conference opener against Hampshire

(PSC) – With the Bobcats coming off an important win the momentum would only continue to build as they prepared for their YSCC opener against Conference foe Hampshire College. Paul Smith's looked to avenge a 2018 loss and a 2019 Tie, which knocked them out of conference tournament contention in 2019.

It would take only four minutes for Derek Burns to slot one into the lower left corner off a through ball from attacking partner Marvis Nosa. A few minutes later, Burns was put through again where he was fouled just inside the box. This would set up a penalty kick for Noel Diaz to put the Bobcats up by two, this also ended Burns' day early. The remainder of the first half saw plenty of opportunities for Paul Smith's but none would make the back of the net ripple.

The second half of competition opened up with Paul Smith's pressing high and moving the ball well. After a handful of minutes into the first half Nosa would find his first of the game with his second arriving less than a minute later. This would put the Bobcats up 4-0. Trey Leak would find his way onto the scoresheet next netting two in a row. Freshman Per Hanson volleyed two into the net from crosses provided by fellow Freshman Luke Barlow. Cody Hanson, freshman, would close the scoring with a perfectly struck ball into the lower right corner from 22 yards out from goal.

Paul Smith's will host Blue Line Rival Word of Life Bible Institute for a 7pm Kick Off at home. While conference play for Bobcats continues on Saturday the 18th in Concord, NH against NHTI. PSC will look to avenge their 7-0 defeat in the 2019 season. Keep up to date on the happenings with the Bobcat's Men's Soccer team on Instagram: @paulsmithssoccer.
