UMA men open season at Husson Harrier 8K

BANGOR, ME (UMA) – UMA men's cross country opened their season at the Husson Harrier 8K at Saxl Park in Bangor on Saturday. Freshman Cole Winslow lead the Moose in his debut race at the 8K distance running 31:39.2 followed by Christian Alley (33:21) and Sam Gerken (33:31). The Moose top 5 were rounded out by Sam Scott and freshman Brandon Hemingway.

This marked the first race in the 8K distance for 5 of the 6 UMA men's cross country runners. Coach Gilpatrick had this to say about the first race of the season: "With this being the first time for most of the men racing the 8K distance I was really happy with how they performed. There is free time left out on the course due to the muddy conditions and the amount of turns in the course."

The Moose have the next two weeks to train before hosting the UMA Invitational 5K on their home course in Augusta on September 28th.
