WSOC: Late offense surges Lynx past Mustangs by a 2-1 final

AUBURN, ME (NHTI) – It was October 26th, 2019, when the Lynx lost in the YSCC Championship Semifinal to the Central Maine Community College Mustangs. Little did we know that would end up being the last time the women's soccer team would hit the soccer pitch until today as 682 days later revenge was dished out as NHTI defeated the Mustangs by a 2-1 final on Tuesday.

The game was a back-and-forth contest with no scoring in the first half following a pair of tremendous saves from freshman goalkeeper Madison Lima (Belmont, NH). In the second half Central Maine Community College finally put a shot into the back of the net as Mya Sirois gave the home crowd something to cheer for in the 55th minute.

The Lynx kept fighting and on a transition attack Emily Knouse (Loudon, NH) made a move past a defender and gifted a sweet pass to Kallesta Selby (Newbury, NH) who scored the first goal of the season. Nine minutes later Knouse was at it again making a sweet move past the Mustangs defense while freezing the goalkeeper and hitting the game winner for the visitors. One final save in the 90th minute from Lima and NHTI finally gave Central Maine Community College a victory almost two years in the making.

The Lynx will next play on September 13th at 4:15 PM vs Springfield Tech CC.
