CONCORD, NH (YSCC) – The Paul Smith's College Bobcats are the 2021 Yankee Small College Conference volleyball champions.
The Bobcats faced a tough NHTI Lynx team in the finals Sunday afternoon. Backed by great net play by fellow YSCC All-Conference players Alexandra Cherry and Jordan Louis and stellar setup and serving from Avrielle Fletcher, the Bobcats beat the Lynx 3 sets to 1.
The Lynx looked like there were going to take the Bobcats to fives sets after a powerful second set.
Emma Ferguson and Defensive Player of the Tournament Jessica Allen fought hard all match long.
In the end, YSCC Tournament MVP Cherry and Offensive Player of the Tournament Louis were too tough for the Lynx.
SEMIFINALS
The Lynx had a tough five-set match against the Great Bay Herons to get to the finals.
YSCC All-Conference player Kayleigh MacDougall anchored a resilient Herons team for five full sets. The Lynx outlasted the Herons in the 5th set 16-14.
The Bobcats made it to the finals in a three-set sweep of a tough Southern Maine Community College team. Scrappy play by YSCC All-Conference player Talia Catoggio pushed the Bobcats in all three sets. The first-year Seawolves were coached YSCC Coach of the Year Garrett Lewellen.
