Week 3 YSCC Athlete of the Week honors handed out

(YSCC) -- Seasons are rolling along as the Yankee Small College Conference hands out Week 3 Athlete of the Week awards

GOLF - Brennen McDougal, NHTI

McDougall fired an 82 and 84 Beaver Meadow in Concord, NH to top the individual play list.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - Anna Mehner, Paul Smith's College
(Sophomore, C - Troy, NY, 23)

Anna was a crucial piece of our victory on Saturday against conference rival VTC. Anna had 8 Shots, 5 shots on Goal, with 2 goals. She had an even better performance on Sunday against NCAA Division 3 opponent Johnson State With : 7 Shots, 4 on Goal, 2 Goals and 1 Assist.

MEN'S SOCCER - Senai Yenie, Southern Maine CC
(Sr., M - Portland, Maine, 19)

Yenie recorded a hat trick in his first collegiate game with SMCC in a 13-1 rout over Hampshire College on 9/23. Not included in season totals, Yenie scored for SMCC in a 1-1 draw with Bowdoin JV on 9/25.

MEN'S X-COUNTRY - Andrew Shepherd, NHTI
(Freshman, - Newbury, N.H.)

SOFTBALL - Deanna McGuire, Great Bay C.C.
(Freshman, Infield/Pitcher - Lisbon, NH, 16)

Deanna McGuire, a GBCC Freshman from Lisbon, NH, pitched in both games on Saturday against CSJ and SMCC. In the first game, she pitched a complete game striking out 3 and did not walk a batter. In the second game, Deanna pitched two scoreless innings of relief with a strikeout and no walks. Deanna also contributed offensively with two hits in the second game, including an RBI in a tight 5-3 loss to SMCC. In the first game she had a key walk to contribute to our first inning rally in the 9-3 loss to CSJ. Deanna has been a top performer all season striking out 12 batters without issuing a walk.

BASEBALL - Nathaniel Cyr, Southern Maine CC, (Jr., OF - Freeport, Maine, 5)

Cyr was intramental in a 3-1 stretch for the SeaWolves last week. Cyr hit three home runs, tallied five RBI, and scored seven runs- adding three walks.

Cyr returned to the SeaWolves' lineup, having played in 21 games and posting a .174 batting average over 23 at-bats in his first season.

Cyr graduated from Freeport High School as a three-sport athlete in baseball, basketball, and football.

VOLLEYBALL - Amanda Stumpf, NHTI
(Sr, MB - Nashua, N.H., 05)
