University of Maine Augusta players sweep YSCC Players of the Week

(YSCC) -- University of Maine Augusta Moose players grab both women's and men's YSCC Players of the Week this week. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Sidney Moore | University of Maine Augusta | SO | G

Moore helped the Moose to a 2-0 week in YSCC play. She was a perfect 11-11 from the charity stripe and netted a career-high 34 points in a win against NHTI. Moore shot 51.4 percent from the field and connected for 7 threes. Moore also averaged 8.5 rebounds in two games. Moore is in her Sophomore season playing basketball for the Moose. For the 2017-18 season for the Moose, Moore showcased her pristine shooting skills, averaging 40.9% for the three-point line. Moore was fourth in percentages for the YSCC from the three-point line. She played in 28 games starting in 26 of them. Moore went to Nokomis High School, Moore played varsity basketball for four years and played soccer for three, two of which were varsity. As a senior, Moore was a captain, named to the Class A North All-Tournament First Team, was a KVAC Class A All-Academic, and was named to the KVAC Class A Second Team both her junior and senior years playing basketball. Moore was also a part of the National Technical Honor Society during her junior and senior years. At UMA, Moore is a justice studies major and intends to become a police officer after graduating. In her spare time, Moore enjoys Hunting, Fishing, and Kayaking.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Israel Brown | University of Maine Augusta | SO | G

In three games this week, Brown averaged 21.7 points. Most impressively, Brown scored 25 points and pulled in 7 rebounds against NHTI. Brown showed his impressive versatility hitting from beyond the arc as well as slashing to the basket. Brown is a sophomore for the Moose. He had an average of 10 points a game and nearly 3 rebounds a game in the 2017-18 basketball season. Brown played in 24 games for the Moose. With his speed and agility, Brown is a great asset. Brown is from Glen Rock High School. The 6'0 guard played four years of high school basketball for coaches Biran Gaccione, Mike Troy, and Jason Mittelman. Brown helped his team to win the division title, made First Team All-Conference, and also received honorable mention All-County.
