CMCC Women and NHTI Men to play for USCAA Championships

UNIONTOWN, Pennsylvania (YSCC) - Two Yankee Small College Conference teams will compete for 2019-20 United States Collegiate Athletics Association DII Championships Wednesday.

YSCC Women's Champion Central Maine Community College Mustangs will play for the USCAA Women's DII crown after an 80-62 win over Villa Maria Tuesday. The Mustangs face #1 ranked Penn State Beaver at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The YSCC Men's Champion NHTI Lynx downed Johnson & Wales Charlotte 98-76 to earn their first championship trip since 2005. That year, Coach Paul Hogan guided the Lynx to their first USCAA Championship.

YSCC President Matt Richards said he's excited to see the league represented so strongly at the highest level.

"I'm extremely proud to see the success of both CMCC women and NHTI men in representing our Conference in the USCAA national title games," Richards said. "This is an excellent testament to the hard work put in by student-athletes and coaches within their respected programs. The YSCC presented itself very well at the USCAA national tourney with outstanding play by all our conference members with three other programs (Southern Maine Community College women and men along with Vermont Tech men) advancing deep into the tournament.
