CONCORD, New Hampshire (YSCC) – The Paul Smith's College Bobcats Women and the Central Maine Community College Mustangs Men were crowned Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Soccer Champions Sunday, October 30 on the campus of NHTI in Concord, New Hampshire.

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

After the first half of back-and-forth action, Offensive Player of the Tournament Samantha Severing of the Bobcats lifted a shot just over NHTI goalkeeper Madison Lima at the 40-minute mark of the second half to score the only goal of the game. Tournament MVP Leah Coulombe got Severing the ball just outside the box for the assist. YSCC Goalkeeper of the Year Anna Thrasher kept the Lynx off the scoreboard the rest of the way, giving the Bobcats the 2022 YSCC Women's Soccer Championship.

The Bobcats got to the championship by beating Southern Maine Community College Seawolves in a spectacular semifinal match. Bobcats won in overtime on a goal from Leah Coulombe in the 131st minute. Thrasher made four game-saving stops to get the Bobcats to the championship game.

The Lynx got to the championship game spectacularly as well.

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Panthers forward Payge DeMaio scored the first semifinal goal just 40 seconds into the match for the 1-0 lead.

The Lynx similarly opened the second half. After an initial save by Panthers goalkeeper Mykala Brodzinski, NHTI's Kallee Selby gathered the ball and put it in the far corner of the net to tie the game at one just 24 seconds into the half.

The game stayed tied through two overtimes and went to the shootout. The shootout came down to the final shooters for each team. Trailing 3-2 in the shootout, NHTI's Piper Flood scored to tie the shootout at three. With the game on the line, Panthers defender Ka'ena Kehano got the ball past Lynx goalkeeper Lima, but it clanged off the sidepost and did not go into the net to move the Lynx into the championship game.
