SMCC Sweeps Week 1 YSCC Baseball and Softball Player of the Week Honors

Jason Libby (SMCC)

First-year ace Jason Libby pitched seven complete innings to help lead his team to a 3-2 win over Northern Essex Community College on Tuesday, Apr. 2. It was SMCC's first win over the NJCAA powerhouse since the 2017 season. Libby surrendered just four hits, no earned runs, and struck out seven in a dazzling performance that allowed the SMCC offense to score in the bottom of the eighth to secure the victory.

Delanie Perry (SMCC)

First-year captain Delanie Perry put together a dominant performance at the plate in a doubleheader sweep of Roxbury Community College on Sunday, Apr. 7. Perry hit for the cycle in the first game and was a perfect 5-5 at the dish in the second game. Combined totals included 12-13 (.923 avg), 7 extra-base hits, 12 RBIs, and 9 runs scored.
