Lynx, Mustangs split baseball double header

CONCORD, NH (CMCC) -- The Central Maine Mustangs grabbed an early lead on its way to an 11-3 victory over NHTI on Saturday. The Mustangs scored on a single by Jordi Valls in the first inning, a single by Damien St. Pierre in the first inning, and a double by Valls in the second inning.Central Maine scored five runs in the third inning. The Mustangs scored on a single by Zach Mann, a single by Elijah Grizzard-Brown, a double by Alex Biron, and a stolen base. Damien St. Pierre earned the win for Central Maine. He went seven innings, surrendering three runs, six hits, and striking out eight. Jacob Kelley took the loss for The Lynx. He pitched two and two-thirds innings, surrendering nine runs, nine hits, striking out four, and walking one. Central Maine had 12 hits in the game.  Grizzard-Brown, Valls, Tanner Wheeler, and Eric Hoogterp each collected multiple hits for the Mustangs.  

Christian McClellan led New Hampshire with two hits in four at bats.

GAME TWO

Saturday's game against NHTI was a heart breaker for CM, as they lost the lead late in an 11-1 defeat.  The game was tied at zero with NHTI batting in the bottom of the fourth when Dakotah Cappelletty singled off of Alex Biron, driving in two runs.  NHTI Lynx scored six runs in the fifth inning.  The big inning for Lynx came thanks to a single by Brad Murphy, a single by Dakotah Cappelletty, an error, and a single by Jacob Kelley.  Tyler Sargent earned the win for the Lynx. He tossed five innings, giving up one run, five hits, striking out four, and walking one. Alex Biron took the loss for Central Maine. He pitched four and a third innings, giving up seven runs, eight hits, and striking out three.  Eric Hoogterp, Biron, Damien St. Pierre, Jordi Valls, and Elijah Grizzard-Brown each managed one hit to lead the Mustangs.

 New Hampshire collected 12 hits.  Nicholas Sullivan, Kelley, Cappelletty, and Murphy each collected multiple hits for the Lynx.
