Baseball Drops Both In Russmatt Finale

RUSSMATT CENTRAL FLORIDA INVITATIONAL— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team was defeated in both games of its doubleheader finale by the Chiefs from Waubonsee Community College in Auburndale, Fl. on Wednesday, Mar. 14.

In game one, the SeaWolves posted two runs on two hits for starter Dylan Francoeur (Westbrook, Maine) who threw a near six innings and allowed four earned runs—junior Caleb Chambers (Lebanon, Maine) and first-year Timothy Greenlaw (Windham, Maine) collected RBIs. The Chief's manufactured eight runs backed by a complete game performance from their ace.

In part two, SMCC continued its spell from the dish pushing across one run on a RBI delivered by first-year Ian Westphal in the third. Junior Amos Herrin (Wilton, Maine) found success going 2-2 with a pair of base knocks. First-year James Parisi (Rockport, Maine) made his third appearance on the road trip tossing three innings before junior Nathaniel Cyr (Freeport, Maine) came on in relief. Waubonsee finished the game in five innings scoring six in the top half of the inning to lead 16-1.

The SeaWolves conclude their nine-game slate in Florida at 3-6, 14-9 overall and return to Maine to continue regular season play at home vs. Holyoke Community College on Sunday, Mar. 25 weather pending.
