SeaWolves Meet Carleton, Finish Regular Season 27-12-1

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team played host to the Ravens from Carleton University (Canada) in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday, Apr. 30.

Game 1: T, 10-10 (7 innings) | BOX
First-year Devin Sawyer (Ayer, Mass.) took the ball to make his fourth start of his rookie campaign. The right-hander went four complete to allow nine runs, eight earned, on 11 hits. Junior Sean Adams (Lebanon, Maine) took over in the fifth inning in his seventh relief appearance of the season.

Carleton got off to a hot start posting eight runs in the early goings. The SeaWolves recorded runs in all innings but one in the first five innings to trail 10-9.

Sophomore Evan Leveroni (Sandown, N.H.) led off the bottom of the seventh poking a double to right field. First-year Ian Westphal (Portland, Maine) moved the runner over on a sacrifice bunt before sophomore Cody Bryant(Somersworth, N.H.) evened the score on a sac fly to the center fielder.

Following the final out in the seventh, the 10-10 game was called a tie due to time restraints.

Game 2: W, 2-0 | BOX

Adams continued on the mound as the starter in game two throwing 4.0 innings of one-hit baseball. The SeaWolves used first-year Dylan Francoeur (Westbrook, Maine) and Bryant to shutout the Ravens and preserve two runs of support.

Featuring far less offense than game one, SMCC waited until the fifth inning to turn over the scoreboard. With one on and one out, Leveroni clobbered a double to right to give his team the 1-0 advantage. In the next inning, the SeaWolves tacked on another when first-year Timothy Greenlaw (Windham, Maine) crossed home on a fielding error.

Leveroni combined for 5-7 in both games, contributing three runs and one RBI.

Francoeur recorded his fifth win of the season, and Bryant his first save of the year.
