SeaWolves Click For 108 Points In Augusta

AUGUSTA, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team picked up its third Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) win of 2017 on the road at the University of Maine at Augusta on Tuesday, Nov. 21, defeating the Moose 108-86.

The SeaWolves exceeded the 100-point total for the first time this season, doing it twice against the Moose in 2016-17. Junior Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) won the tip and converted a layup on SMCC's first possession. Despite 19 from Sheveran Hardy, UMA could not recover as the SeaWolves built its largest lead of game with 5:44 remaining in regulation.

SMCC held Dustin Simpson-Bragg in check with eight points, the junior forward getting into foul trouble late in the first half.

Junior co-captain Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) went for a season high 25 points in combination with 18 rebounds—notching his fourth double-double in the fewest minutes he has all season.

The rest of the starting five, plus sixth man Gregory Trinidad (Lawrence, Maine), finished in double digit scoring. First-year Jacobee Burpee (Manchester, N.H.) had himself a career night with nine assists as part of the SeaWolves' 28 on 38 field goals made.

SMCC climbs to 3-1 in the conference standings, 7-2 overall; UMA has lost two straight now sporting a 1-4 YSCC record, 2-5 overall.

SMCC gets back to its conference schedule after the Thanksgiving break with the rematch of the Elite 8 Championship game on Thursday, Nov. 30. The SeaWolves host the YSCC-leading Lynx of NHTI, Concord's Community College inside the HUB where SMCC holds the 5-1 advantage over five seasons. Mark this one on your calendar, tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
