MACHIAS, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team rolled to their fourth Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) victory of the season 89-71 at the University of Maine at Machias on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Like the women, the men followed suit with a hot start jumping out a 17-2 lead off the tip. The Clippers closed their deficit to eight near the midway point in the first half on a made three-pointer by Darius Clark (Melbourne, Fl.). The SeaWolves posted 48, featuring 12 from first-year Willie Brown (Willimantic, Conn.), in the first to hold a 15-point lead at the half.

The Clippers brought it back to five with 11:42 left but the road team prevailed outscoring Machias 16-13 to finish the game. The SeaWolves shot 55.2 percent (16-29) from the floor and 50 percent (3-6) from beyond the arc to go along with 41 second-half points.

Five SeaWolves scored in double figures—leading the way was junior Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) with 15. First-year Jacobee Burpee (Manchester, N.H.) finished with the key performance of the game with 13 points on a perfect 6-6 shooting. Burpee collected six assists in 28 minutes of work. Junior co-captain Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) recorded his third consecutive double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Clippers' Travonne Thompson (Melbourne, Fl.) and Clark combined for 43 points and 14 rebounds.

In a post-game interview, Assistant Coach AJ Burton stated, "Today was a great bounce back win after a short turnaround. The guys came out strong and from top to bottom, everyone contributed in another conference win."

The SeaWolves improve to 4-2 in conference action, 8-3 overall. Machias ranks one spot below SMCC in the conference standings at 3-2, 4-6 overall.

SMCC will play host to Hampshire College on Friday, Dec. 8 in the last of its six-game conference stretch. The SeaWolves are 5-0 against the conference foe in recent history. Tip off from The HUB is set for 7:30 p.m.
