Panthers Shoot Their Way To Win Over SeaWolves

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team suffered a 69-43 loss to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in a non-conference game on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Albany outperformed SMCC in all phases of shooting and rebounding. The Panthers connected for 45.3 percent from the floor, and 7-19 from three-point territory. The SeaWolves recorded a season worst 27.3 percent from the field on 66 attempts.

First-year Willie Brown (Willimantic, Conn.) and junior Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) both poured in 11 as Panthers' Alex Johnson (Malone, N.Y.) led all scorers in the game with 14. Brandon Votra (Saint Regis Falls, N.Y.) notched a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

SMCC drops its fourth of the year but remains 5-2 in conference action. Albany improves to 6-3 overall. 

The SeaWolves take on the Mustangs from Central Maine Community College in a much anticipated matchup on Wednesday, Dec. 13. SMCC holds the upper hand in the all-time historic rivalry, winning 62 of the 113 total meetings. Tip off at The HUB is set for 8 p.m. SMCC Athletics will be giving away "Wolfpack Pride" t-shirts to the first 150 students in attendance at the women's game.
