Knights get 22 points from Titus Smith in 69-58 win over CMCC

CONCORD, NH (YSCC) — Two games, 11 points differential...kinda knew this one was going to be a grind.

The Knights of Vermont Tech outlasted the CMCC Mustangs 69 - 58, to move to the YSCC Men's Elite 8 Championship game Sunday.

The Mustangs held a 7 point lead at the half, powered by Cody Tozier's (Darmiscotta, ME) 9 points. YSCC First Team All-Conference player Titus Smith (Elkins, WV) led the Knights with ten at the break.

The start of the 2nd was much of the same until the Mustangs went nearly four minutes without scoring. Vermont Tech, with the help of Tyrone Hilson (Chicago, IL), built an eight-point lead.

The Knights looked to have suffered a loss with 2:34 to go when Smith left the game with what seemed to be a significant lower leg injury. He returned a short time later with what was likely a muscle spasm.

CMCC didn't go away, closing the gap to just 3 points after two free throws by Malik Farley (Orlando, FL) with a little more than 5 minutes left.

Vermont Tech closed ranks and fought off the Mustangs' charge to win the game.

Smith led all scorers with 21 points and nine rebounds. Hilson 9 points for the Knights.

Corey David (Ocala, FL) and Josh Cherry (Weymouth, MA) led CMCC with 11 points apiece.

The Knights move on to face NHTI Sunday at 2P in the 2018 YSCC Men's Elite 8 Championship game.
