NHTI wins YSCC Men's Championship

CONCORD, NH (YSCC) — For the second year in a row, home court was kind to the eventual YSCC men's champions.

The NHTI Lynx trailed 2-0 early on. Javan Parkinson (Coral Springs, FL) drilled a 3-ball and the Lynx never looked back, as they defeated the Vermont Tech Knights 77-59 to win the 2017-18 YSCC Men's Elite 8 Championship.

Tyler Hunter (Berlin, MD) had a spectacular performance for the Lynx off the bench, leading all scorers with 20 points on 8 for 11 shooting.

Joe Simpson (Manchester, NH) added 15 points in the Lynx win.

Taiga Cantor (Newcastle, NSW, Australia) led the Knights with 16 points. Daniel Gill (Charlotte, NC) played strong all tournament long added 14 points for the Knights.

YSCC Men's Player of the Year J'Quay Thurmond (Monticello, GA) took home the Defensive Player of the Tournament for NHTI. Cameron Carter (Atlanta, GA) of Vermont Tech took home Offensive Player of the Tournament. Simpson topped his day off with taking home the Tournament MVP award.

The win gives the Lynx an automatic bid to the USCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championships that take place February 27th - March 3rd at Penn State Fayette in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
