Vermont Tech men move on to USCAA semi-finals

UNIONTOWN, Pennsylvania (VTC) --  On Sunday the #6 seed Green Knights from Vermont Tech took on the # 3 seed Cougars of Cincinnati Clarmont in the national quarterfinals. After a hard fought game, Vermont Tech pulled off the upset  and defeated the Cougars 108-100 to advance to the national semi-finals.

Vermont Tech controlled the game most of the night. Senior Trekel Douglas jump started the team with two big 3's to take a 17-11 lead. The Knights never looked back. Drake Perry had a monster game scoring 30 points to lead VTC. " He was huge for us. He made big play after big play and got it done on both ends of the court." Coach Jamal Hughes said. Jeremiah Shaw continued his dominance scoring 22. Chance Cole scored 18, and Trekel Douglas had a very efficient 13 points. Xavier Hicks was a huge spark off the bench adding 16.

UC Clermont played inspiring basketball in the 2nd half cutting a 17 point defit to 3, but VTC had a answer every time the Cougars hit striking distance. Kort Justice led all scorers with 31. Greg Marsh scored 21, while Clay Spivey and John Aichotz added 17 and 13 respectively.
