Knights lose a tough one to Fisher

RANDOLPH CENTER, Vermont (VT) -- The Knights gave away a two goal lead in the first six minutes of the second half to Fisher College (Boston, Mass.) who were able to establish enough 2nd half pressure to force Overtime.

The Knights started the match firing on all cylinders as they quickly got out to a 2-0 lead. Phillip Hepburn (Milton, VT) in the 5th minute of the game struck home the first goal of the game when Matt Brien (Colchester, VT) slipped the ball through a cluster of Fisher defenders and found Hepburn a lone in front of the goal.

Five minutes later Houston Cote (Bristol, VT) would make it 2-0 for the Knights when he carried the ball into space then strike a low driven ball on frame which beat Fisher's goalkeeper Eliseu Deping.  In the 30th minute the Knight's would give one back as a clearance attempt strike the hand of a Knights defender Matt Brian. Leading to a penalty kick where Fisher's Tyler Gahara (Hooskett, NH) placed in the left corner.

It only took 8 min for the Knights to gain back their two goal lead when freshman Connor Strom(North Attleboro, MA.) came on as a sub and in the first minute of his colligiate career he scored his first collegiate goal. David Mattern (South Royalton, VT) was able to split the Fisher defense and deliver the ball to Strom cutting across the middle of the 18 yard box, Strom then slipped the ball under the charger keeper Eliseu Deping.  The Knight's would take a 3-1 lead into half.

Fisher College started the 2nd half taking advantage of two quick opportunities when the Knights midfield got disconnected and created a large space for Fisher to attack with pace leading to two quick goals in transition 6th minutes into the second half the game was tied at three.

The two teams would battle then next 40 minutes trading opportunities, but neither team could put themselves ahead. In overtime a defensive miscue allowed Tyler Gahara (Hooksett, NH) to pick up the loose ball and slide it past Knights goalkeeper Scott Durkee (Chelsea, VT) who recorded 6 saves on 10 shots. 

The Knights travel to Paul Smith's on Sunday 6/11/16 for a 1pm contest in hopes to rebound from their overtime loss.
