ALBANY, N.Y.(SMCC) — The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team suffered a 6-0 loss to open its 2017 campaign against the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) in a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The SeaWolves conceded the first goal of the game at 3:37 and were unable to recover. Panther forward Mina Girgis wasted no time in collecting a hat trick by the 11th minute; ACPHS continued to bring the pressure to go up 4-0 before the first half expired.

The Panthers tacked on another early into the second half and Girgis solidified the 6-0 victory with his fourth cap of the day at 72:11.

SMCC junior goalkeeper Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) faced 13 shots on goal to record seven saves. The SeaWolves offense was snuffed out by a disciplined Panther defense to fall 0-1 overall.

The SeaWolves open Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play when they play host to the College of St. Joseph (V.T.) at Wainwright Recreation Complex on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m.
