Bobcats Push SeaWolves To 0-4

PAUL SMITH'S, New York (SMCC) -- The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team was outmatched 4-1 on the road by the Bobcats of Paul Smith's College in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) game on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Bobcats put the pressure on early and went ahead 1-0 on a goal by Louis Daversa at the 4:40 mark. The home team changed the big board again when Corey Nystrom linked up with Kyle King midway through the first half.

The SeaWolves cut their deficit in half when sophomore Kervens Antoine (Freeport, Maine) found the back of the net for his first cap of the season; midfielder Yaroslav Philbrook (Chernigov, Ukraine) recorded his first assist of his rookie campaign on the play.

Paul Smith's wiped it away two minutes later courtesy of Nathan Smith who would get his second of the day on a set piece in the 68th minute to open the Bobcat lead 4-1.

SMCC goalkeeper Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) tallied 10 saves as SMCC dropped its fourth straight. Paul Smith's improves to 1-2 in conference play.

The SeaWolves are scheduled to travel to New Hampshire Technical Institute to play the 1-4 Lynx in another YSCC showdown on Wednesday, Sept. 20. SMCC has played to a 2-4 record against NHTI over the previous five season. Kick-off is set for 3:45 p.m.
