AUBURN, Maine (CMCC) -- The men's soccer squad played their first home game of the season Saturday against Hampshire College. Ten minutes into the match co-captain Nate Foyeplayed a ball to freshman Evan Blanchard who blasted a shot from 25 yards out past the Hampshire goalkeeper Felix Hunt to score first. Defensive back Ricky Thompson was able to put in a free kick from well outside just 6 minutes later. At the 28th minute Trystan Sanborn threaded a through ball past Hampshire defenders that Abdullah Jashaamicollected to score. Just three minutes later, Jashaami intercepted a pass and quickly capitalized again, firing a rocket into the back of the goal. Sophomore Josh St. Pierrejoined in and added to the Mustang success just before halftime. St. Pierre stepped up and intercepted a pass out of the back and fired near post to give the Mustangs a 5-0 advantage.
The second half saw a lot of Mustangs possession but Junior Fiston Mubalama had to get on the score board himself. With two strong individual efforts, Mubalama brought the Mustang lead to 7-0. Not to go quietly into that good night. Hampshire put together a good series of passes and a foul in the box lead to a penalty kick, which Stevie Larbi scored. The final score of the game had CMCC victorious, 7-1.
Freshman goalkeepers Jacoby Robinson and Mike Prindiville split time for the Mustangs. Robinson notching 4 saves, Prindiville 3. The Mustangs are now 1-1 in conference play.
