SeaWolves Dominant, Settle For Stalemate

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team played to a 0-0 non-conference draw with the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) at Wainwright Recreation Complex on Thursday, Sept. 28.

SMCC commanded time of possession from kickoff and tallied 29 shots in regulation before bringing the total to 40 in two extra-time periods. Senior and Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Player of the Week Senai Yenie (Portland, Maine) totaled 12 shots, once hitting the cross bar and just missing with promising attempts from distance.

Junior Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) finished with four saves and his first clean sheet of the season. The SeaWolves' defense led by co-captain Jamal Durrani (Lebanon, Maine) and first-year Hanssen Casey (Eliot, Maine) limited the Mustangs to just six shots in 110 minutes of play.

Head Coach Brian Dougher reflected, "Today was a great battle between two great rivals. We were unfortunate to land one of our 40 shots, but were able to penetrate the final third and earn ourselves some great looks—something we can further develop on."
