Four Fuel 4-0 Win At Central Maine

AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team pitched its second shutout of the season in a 4-0 drubbing of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Friday, Oct. 20.

Playing to a 0-0 draw in their first meeting with CMCC, the SeaWolves offense wasted no time in scoring their fastest goal of the season as senior Senai Yenie (Portland, Maine) dissected the Mustang offense to give his team a 1-0 advantage at the 2:47 mark.

Junior Gradi Lapika (Kinshasa, Congo) followed suit finishing his second of the fall three minutes later on a ball from Yenie.

Second half action was highlighted with goals by first-years Stephen Brady (Rochester, N.H.) and Yaroslav Philibrook (Chernigov, Ukraine) to begin and end the half. The SMCC defense that has averaged 2.34 goals against this season, limited the opposition to just three shots forcing junior goalkeeper Patrick Duddy (Sedgwick, Maine) to make one save in 90 minutes of work.

The SeaWolves close their Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) schedule at a 3-4-1 clip; CMCC 3-5, 3-7-1 overall. Both teams will miss conference postseason play.

Men's soccer will round out its 2017 season on Senior Day with a home date against the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sunday, Oct. 22. Kickoff from Wainwright Recreation Complex is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
