NHTI Sweeps NECA Tournament

South Portland In this weekend's NECA tournament semifinal softball action the Lady Golden Eagles of EMCC faced the Lady Wildcats of UNH and the Lynx of NHTI faced off against the Lady Seawolves of SMCC. In the tournament opener UNH prevailed over EMCC by a score of 8-4 and NHTI overcame SMCC by a score of 6-0.

UNH and NHTI advanced to the tournament championship for a battle of the Granite State. At the end of seven innings the game was deadlocked at 3-3 forcing the game in to extra innings. In extra time the Lynx of NHTI were able to hold UNH scoreless while putting up seven runs on the board to pull away with the 10-3 triumph.

Individual tournament honors were awarded to UNH's Hinchey for Outstanding Offensive Player, NHTI's Cassandra Camire was awarded Outstanding Defensive Player and Tournament Most Valuable Player went to NHTI's Tori Lemay.

In baseball semifinal action the Golden Eagles of EMCC fared better than their female counterparts pulling away with a 4-1 victory over the Wildcats of UNH and advancing to the championship. In other semifinal action the Lynx of NHTI slipped by the Seawolves of SMCC by a score of 7-6.

In the championship game the Golden Eagles and the Lynx battled for seven innings with the Lynx edging past the Eagles with a score of 5-4 to win the NECA Tournament. Individual honors were awarded to EMCC's Bobby Winchell for Outstanding Defensive Player and NHTI's shortstop Zach Drouin for Outstanding Offensive Player. Tournament MVP was awarded to NHTI's Justin Judd.
