NHTI loses to Berea 9-2
Akron, Ohio: NHTI, coached by Kerry Finnigan lost 9-2 to Berea College (Kentucky) in the USCAA National Championships.

NHTI jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a double by Alex Pellerin (Manchester) scoring Kate Andritz (Stark) who singled to start the Lynx rally.  Berea countered with two runs in the top of the second inning and another in the top of the third inning for a 3-1 lead.

USCAA All-American Masha Lange (Plaistow) homered in the third inning to make the score 3-2.

Berea College created some space in a tight game in the top of the 4th scoring 4 runs and added 2 more in the top of the seventh to create the final score.

USCAA All-American pitcher Tori Lemay (Manchester) struck out 8 batters and gave up 11 hits but the 3 Lynx errors with runners on base came back to haunt the # 6 seed Lynx.

Pellerin had two hits on the day to lead the Lynx offensively. The Lynx had 6 hits but left 9 runners on base to thwart their chances to win the game.

The Lynx (24-4) close out a very successful season capturing the YSCC spring title and a fourth place finish at the USCAA national tournament.

Berea College moves onto the 6 PM game vs. the winner of Carlow University (Pa) and St. Mary’s of the Woods (Indiana).
