NHTI defeats St. Joseph's to win fall softball title

CONCORD, N.H. -  NHTI took advantage of home field and won the Yankee Small College Conference tournament, 6-0 against the College of Saint Joseph's Saturday afternoon.

Lynx hurler Tori Lemay struck out 10 and allowed five hits in the championship game on her way to earning tournament MVP honors. The game was scoreless into the top of the fourth inning when Courtney Gilman singled in Jenna Beaulieu to take the 1-0 lead.
The Lynx scored four more runs in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run doiuble from Danyel McNicholas. NHTI tacked on another seventh on their way to a fall championship.
Semi-final
NHTI 7, UNH (club) 2 

Lemay shut down UNH (club) striking out 15 in the first semi-final matchup of the afternoon. The Lynx ran past UNH, 7-2 to advance to the finals. Seven different Lynx had RBI's in the game with both Jenna Beaulieu and Yanna Hendrixson picking up two RBI's Haley Psareas and Katie Manis each recorded a hit for UNH in the loss.

Semi-final
St. Joseph's College 9, SMCC 1 (Five innings)

St. Joseph's College topped Southern Maine Community College 9-1 in a game shortened to five innings to reach the finals. Fighting Saints hurler Maggie Miller struck out three Seawolves in the circle and doubled at the plate in the victory. Allie Hinton went 2-2 at the plate to help St. Joe's advance to the finals.
NHTI's Danyel McNichoals received the Outstanding Offensive Player of the Tourney award and the Fighting Saints' Emily Johnson earned the Outstanding Defensive Player award.
