Softball Battles With NCAA Husson In Exhibition Doubleheader

BANGOR, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team dropped both to the Eagles from Husson University at Boucher Field in an exhibition doubleheader against the NCAA Div. III-opponent on Sunday, Mar. 25.

Game 1: L, 6-2
Sophomore Kristen Mackenzie (Seabrook, N.H.) started in the circle to go the distance in game one. The right-hander allowed six earned runs over 13 hits, fanning two.

First-year Sara Ring (Wells, Maine) found success at the dish, collecting two hits in three plate appearances. Ring drove in both runs for the Lady SeaWolves on a single and a double in the first and third innings.

In the other dugout, Olivia Smith notched the exhibition win throwing 5.0 innings. Morgan Coleman smacked a home run and logged a 2-2 from the plate.

Game 2: L, 9-0 (5 Innings)
Sophomore Sarah Guimond (East Waterboro, Maine) earned the nod in part-two followed by first-year Meranda Martin (Richmond, Maine) who provided 0.2 innings of relief work.

First-year Kimberly Banville (Arundel, Maine) collected the lone hit for the SeaWolves who were blanked by a magnificent pitching performance by Tamara Aunchman. The Eagle offense pushed across nine runs to cut the game short after the conclusion of the fifth.

The Lady Wolves get back to work next week in a non-conference game at Northern Essex Community College on Wednesday, April 4. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
