Lady SeaWolves Win Fourth Straight, Keep With Perfect Road Record

BROCKTON, Mass.— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team completed a SeaWolves Sweep of Massasoit Community College in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, Apr. 24.

Game 1: W, 13-4 (5 innings)
Sophomore Kristen Mackenzie (Seabrook, N.H.) took the circle for the Lady Wolves in the first game to go the distance and match her season-high strikeout total with eight. She allowed four runs, two earned, and walked two to notch her team-leading 10th win of the season.

Sophomore Kahli Philobotte (Hooksett, N.H.) collected four hits in four trips to the plate to also contribute three RBIs. Sophomore Sarah Guimond (East Waterboro, Maine) too drove in three using three hits—part of SMCC's 17 in the game.

Game 2: W, 10-7
Guimond was the starter in game two. She also tossed a complete game to allow seven runs, four earned, spread over 10 hits. The right-hander notched her 70th punch-out of the season in the contest.

The SeaWolves scored two runs in the top-half of the sixth inning to break up a 4-4 tie. The away team plated four more in the seventh to lead 10-4. The Massasoit bats sprung an effort with three runs in the bottom of the inning, but Guimond was able to record the final out to win her seventh game of her sophomore season.

First-year Sara Ring (Wells, Maine) totaled four hits in the game including a double—part of SMCC's five extra-base hits. First-year Meranda Martin (Richmond, Maine) swiped her 42nd bag of the season to lead the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

By picking up a pair on the road, SMCC improves to perfect 5-0 away record, 18-14 overall.

The SeaWolves will continue action at home on Senior Day Friday, Apr. 27 vs. the University of Maine at Presque Isle. First-pitch of the non-conference twin bill is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. LIVE STATS: http://www.gosmccseawolves.com/sports/sball/2017-18/boxscores/20180427_ovcm.xml
