SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – University of Maine at Augusta sophomore Arreonte Lee (San Antonio, Tex.) gave her team the lead and joined the 1,000 point club on the same play Saturday afternoon, as the third seeded Moose defeated second seeded Southern Maine Community College 75-67 to advance to the championship game tomorrow afternoon against Central Maine Community College.

Game time is set for 1:00 pm.

Lee led all scores with 30 points, in a tightly contested game that included seven ties and 16 lead changes. The Moose jumped out to an early 14-6 lead with 13:03 remaining in the first half, but the Seawolves answered with a 20-9 run, taking their first lead of the game on a Maria Veino lay up with 3:39 left in the half. Both teams traded points over the last few minutes, and a last second free throw by Lee put UMA up 31-30 heading into the locker room.

The game remained close throughout the second half, and SMCC led 65-64 with 3:22 remaining in regulation,  but Lee and UMA freshman Jamie Plummer kicked in consecutive buckets to give the Moose a three point advantage with just under two minutes to play. UMA extended the lead by hitting six of their final nine free throws to set the final score.

SMCC out-rebounded UMA 46-31 and scored 46 points in the paint to 26 for the Moose.

SMCC was led by Maria Veino and Danielle McCusker who scored 17 points each. McCusker scored the Seawolves' lone three pointer. Veino was the only player on either team to hit double-digits in rebounds, with 13.

Junior Jennifer Lola scored 19 points, shooting 50 percent from behind the arc, while freshman Plummer scored 17 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
