NHTI Women's Basketball Runs Past Vermont Tech, 85-45

 

RANDOLPH, Vt. – The NHTI women's basketball team ran to an 85-45 victory in a Yankee Small College Conference matchup at Vermont Tech. The Lynx improve to 3-2 in conference play and 4-2 overall. Vermont Tech. falls to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

            NHTI went on a 15-4 run to begin the game and never looked back. Junior guard Riselly Deoleo (Manchester, N.H.) made a pair of layups back-to-back to put the Lynx up 25-8 in the first period. Deoleo finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

            Vermont Tech could not keep pace with NHTI falling behind 50-19 at the half. Freshman Shannon Cookson (Plainfield, Vt.) scored six first-half points to lead the Knights. Cookson finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds on the evening.

            Freshman Michaela Biron (Colebrook, N.H.) scored a game-high 21 points for the Lynx adding four rebounds and an assist. Junior Melissa Martel (Pembroke, N.H.) totaled 17 points and eight rebounds in the win.

            Sophomore Mariah Rilling (Randolph, Vt.) led the Knights with 16 points.

            NHTI heads to Southern Maine Community College Thursday at 8:00 p.m. and Vermont Tech will host Unity Saturday at 2:00 in YSCC matchups.
