Mustangs move on to play in YSCC Women's Elite 8 Championship game

CONCORD, NH (YSCC) — Defending USCAA champions CMCC Mustangs dominated the boards to move on to the women's final.

The Lady Mustangs beat the Lynx 76 - 66 to earn a spot in the YSCC Elite 8 Women's Championship on Sunday.

CMCC and NHTI battled evenly for the first quarter, but the Mustangs rebounding helped grab them grab a 34 - 23 halftime lead. Eraleena Gethers-Hairston (Auburn, ME) came off the bench to score 10 points and grab six rebounds in the half for CMCC.

Second half was much of the same as the Mustangs continued their dominance on the boards. 6'1" Jordyn Reynolds (Poland, ME) ripped down ten boards in the half, to finish the game with a double-double, 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Unfortunately, YSCC 2018 Women's Player of the Year, Riselly Deoleo (Manchester, NH) was hampered all game long by foul trouble for the Lynx. Deoleo fouled out with just over six minutes left in the game and finished with 8 points and 9 rebounds.

Other Lynx stepped up and battled til the end. YSCC Women's All-Conference Second Team player Michaella Biron (Colebrook, NH) led all scorers with 18 points and 6 rebounds.

Kristin Huntress (Harrison, ME) led the Mustangs with 14 points, four rebounds and four steals.

The Lady Mustangs will face the winner of UMA vs. SMCC in the YSCC Women's Elite 8 Championship Sunday afternoon.
