Women’s Soccer Falls at CCRI

LINCOLN, R.I.— The Southern Maine Community College women's soccer team was defeated by the Knights of the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) 7-0 in a non-conference match on Thursday, Sept. 14.

The Lady SeaWolves were unable to find a rhythm going forward in the attack against a sound CCRI back four. Defensively, SMCC did all they could to contain a crafty Knights offense. CCRI's Mercedes Faust and Precious Leaman both tallied hat tricks in the contest. The SMCC goal keeper Chelcie Phinney (Winthrop, Maine) recorded 16 saves in the loss.

SMCC now owns a 2-2 overall record, 0-0 in conference.

The action continues when the Lady SeaWolves travel to the University of Maine- Machias to battle the Clippers in their first Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) match of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
